the Story of Rocky Rambo Wei Nam Kam (with Jack Luna)

When Dianna Mah-Jones uncharacteristically missed a meeting, a co-worker went to her house to check on her. What was found in the home was aftermath of one of Vancouver’s most horrific crimes.

The double murder of 65 year old Dianna Mah-Jones and her 68 year old husband Richard Jones was as brutal as it is senseless.

When the suspect, 25 year old Rocky Rambo Wei Nam Kam, was questioned he seemed more interested in talking to police about video games then what happened inside the home.

In fact, video games would become a major part of the case… as Rocky Rambo’s defense is that he thought he was in one when the elderly couple were brutally murdered.

the Story of Lionel Desmond

On Jan. 3, 2017, Afghanistan war veteran Lionel Desmond bought a semi-automatic rifle, dressed himself in camo, and snuck through the woods to his family home.

Inside he shot his mother, his wife, and his 10-year-old daughter before turning the gun on himself.

The factors that led to this horrific outcome, and the red flags missed/ignored along the way were the topics of a public inquiry that has just concluded.

In this episode a sort of eclipse in storytelling and case analysis will occur as co-host of the Sunday Night Show series, Adam Rodgers, served as the deceased Lionel Desmond's legal representative in the inquiry.

Using insight gained through the inquiry, Adam Rodgers will walk Paul Palango and I through the story of Lionel Desmond, the deaths of Lionel and his family, the search for accountability, and where we are at today.

Andra Adams life was cut tragically short during a domestic violence incident that culminated with run over by her boyfriend's vehicle.

The Religious Concepts of "Queen" Romana Didulo (with Dr. Carmen Celestini)

Romana Didulo, the self declared Queen of Canada, has managed to convince her followers that she is leading this country with the help of both international partners and... well... aliens.

In past Nighttime episodes we looked at this story in a variety of ways; we discussed the fake queen's background, we examined the attempt her followers made to arrest the Peterborough, Ontario police force, and we've watched along with the ongoing siege of a small town in Saskatchewan the group is currently residing in.

Throughout most of those episodes there was a bit of an undercurrent of "how can people believe this?"

Romana Didulo's followers view her as much as a religious deity as a political leader and that's why when I heard a professor and a lecturer from Queen's University's School of Religion published a research paper on Romana Didulo I had to learn more.

'Reviving the violet Flame' examines the religious concepts and ideas that have someone found their way into the bizarre world of Romana Didulo.

In this episode we are joined by Dr. Carmen Celestini to talk us through her research into this stranger than fiction phenomenon.

The Story of Lindsay Souvannarath and the Halifax Shopping Center Shooting Plot

In 2015, on the eve of Valentine's day, the people of Halifax would learn they aren’t exempt from the type of nightmares that play out on American news stations.

A local 19 year old James Gamble and his girlfriend, 23 year old American Lindsay Souvannarath, had taken the first steps in a plot to shoot and kill as many people as possible in the Halifax Shopping Centre food court before taking their own lives, just like the other murderous pair they idolized… the Columbine shooters.

In this ongoing series Nighttime conducts an extensive interview with the now incarcerated Lindsay Souvannarath and explores the stranger than fiction story of the Halifax Shopping Center Shooting Plot.

In this introductory episode, the foundation will be laid for an ongoing series in which the surviving architect of the Valentine's day massacre, the enigmatic Lindsay Souvannarath, will break the silence she has maintained since boarding a plane to Nova Scotia with murderous intentions.

In part two of a series exploring the life and crime of the surviving would be shooter, the enigmatic Lindsay Souvannarath will finally break the silence she has maintained since boarding a plane to Nova Scotia with murderous intentions.

In ‘Life Before Choosing Death’ Nighttime will present portions of an extended discussion with Lindsay that walk us through the life she lived before she began planning her death. Throughout the conversation, Lindsay will provide background on many of the defining moments that formed her evolution from an above average kid in a loving family to a young women with an unwavering believe in nazism, a strong affinity towards all things Columbine, and a willingness to kill and die alongside a young man who shared her antisocial beliefs.

In ‘Lindsay, James, and the Valentine’s Day Massacre’ Nighttime will present portions of an extended discussion with Lindsay that walk us through the birth, the planning, and the execution of the plot to kill as many people as possible in a shopping mall foodcourt. Throughout the conversation, Lindsay will provide background on many of the decisions made during the planning, the perilous journey to Halifax, and her arrest at the airport.

In ‘Life After Planning Death’ Nighttime will present portions of an extended discussion with Lindsay that cover Lindsay’s life from the point of her arrest until the present day. Throughout the conversation, Lindsay will discuss her legal battle, life in prison, her regrets, and much more.

In part five of ‘the Story of Lindsay Souvannarath’ the series will switch it’s focus from telling to story to unpacking many of it's dark elements.

In ‘James and Lindsay’s Arsenal’ we will examine the firearms available to Lindsay and James with the help of Canadian firearms expert and advocate Trevor Furlotte.

In ‘Part 6 - Lindsay and the Columbiners’ we will be joined by author/journalist Rachel Monroe who helps us better understand the stranger than fiction Columbiner subculture she has been researching for the better part of a decade.

In ‘Part 7 - Lindsay, the Internet, and Radicalization’, we will be joined by investigative journalist Mack Lamoureux (Vice) who will open our eyes to the troubling world of online radicalization in the context of Lindsay Souvannarath’s case.

In ‘Part 8 - Lindsay’s Biggest Fan!?’, one of the tentacles of this twisted story comes full circle as we will be joined by someone who may be Lindsay Souvannarath's biggest fan.
