What Was in the Sky Above Luskville, Quebec?

Unexpectedly, but not completely surprisingly, I received an email from a very excited lady from Quebec who claimed to have filmed some odd objects hovering in the sky near her home.

She didn’t believe they planes or helicopters… Belia was convinced she witnessed something very unique and she wanted my opinion on the footage she captured.

The video (which I’ve since enhanced and added to the Nighttime YouTube Channel) shows several bright, slow moving objects, travelling above the Ottawa river.

It stumped me right off the bat and that doesn’t usually happen. Perhaps that’s why I wanted to figure this one out and I’m gonna take you along for the journey.

We are going to start by meeting Belia, the very excited lady who filmed the objects behind her home and then we will take the video, and her eye witness account to Celebrated Canadian UFO researcher Chris Rutkowski for an expert analysis.

In this episode of nighttime, I’m going to be considering the Nov 20th UFO sighting above Luskville, Quebec

the Unsolved Murder of Geraldine Settee - 2 - Discussion with True North True Crime

11 year old Geraldine Settee was last seen leaving her home with some change in her pocket and a craving for a snack from a neighbourhood drug store a short, safe, walk away.

When Geraldine didn't return within the expected time, her father grew worried and worry turned to panic when he learned the drugstore wasn't even open that evening.

Where is Geraldine?

A gruesome discovery the next morning would answer that question, create many more, and forever change the Settee family.

In this episode of nighttime, We will be joined by the hosts of True North True Crime for a discussion surrounding this horrific case.

the Disturbing Story of Dale 'Klutzy the Clown' Rancourt - 2 - a documentary that didn't age well

Dale Rancourt is a former children’s entertainer and registered sex offender who is known widely as the disgraced ‘Klutzy the Clown’,

As you heard in my prior episode while researching Rancourt's life and crime I referenced a documentary film (Big Shoes) about him, produced several years before his arrest.

As you may have expected, the film really didn't age well and not because of any creative of technical decisions Michael or Adrienne made but because it leaves out the topic that dominates any discussion about Dale Klutzy the Clown Rancourt.. the sexual offences against a child that occurred in the years after the films release.

After watching the film I was interested to hear how the filmmakers have dealt with such a spoiled creation and that’s exactly what we will get into in this episode.

In this episode of Nighttime we will be joined by Michael Fraiman and Adrian Lee and our topic is the disturbing story of Dale ' Klutzy ' Rancourt... and their documentary that really didn't age well.

Dale 'Klutzy the Clown' Rancourt

For more than a decade, it would have been difficult to find a Cape Bretoner who hadn't heard of Dale Rancourt’s alter ego, Klutzy the Clown.

Rancourt entertained both children and adults, bouncing from birthday parties to nursing homes to public events. Although he was not an especially good performer, he still managed to carve out a niche for Klutzy in Cape Breton's entertainment economy, but it's all gone now.

Dale 'Klutzy the Clown' Rancourt violated some of the most fundamental rules society imposes on those entrusted with the care of children.

In this multi-part series, I’ll be delving into the disturbing tale of the disgraced Dale 'Klutzy the Clown' Rancourt.

three more Chilling Tales from Haunted Nova Scotia (with Steve Vernon)

Nothing brings life to the Halloween spirit like a good ghost story, and no one tells a ghost story like Steve Vernon.

Longtime listeners will know Steve well. He's a favorite author of mine and has joined us several times in the past to share his unique style of storytelling.

Just a few nights back, Steve and I ventured into one of Halifax's many forests for a night of storytelling.

I brought my microphone, and Steve brought a flashlight and a book of his stories.

In this episode I'll take you along with me for three chilling tales from haunted Nova Scotia written and read by Steve Vernon.

the Death of Andrew Gnazdowsky (and the quest for answers and accountability)

Then 26 year old civil engineer Andrew Gnazdowsky and a co-worker were on site completing a survey of a Nova Scotia Power dam near Sheet Harbour in October of 2020.

When a technology failure disrupted their work, Andrew made the fateful decision to enter the water and collect the failed equipment.

Moments later, Andrew would briefly yell for help before ultimately disappearing below the still water.

In the year since Andrew's tragic death, the Gnazdowsky's have been steadfast in their belief that the investigation into Andrew's death has been at best flawed and at worst completely compromised… and it's not just a hunch that tells them that.

Conflicts of interest, erroneous death records, the scrubbing online records, bureaucratic flip flopping, and opportunistic politicians...

This story has all of it.

Part 1

In this episode Nicole Gnazdowsky describes the search for answers and accountability related to the death of her brother Andrew Gnazdowsky.

Part 2

In this episode we are again joined by Nicole Gnazdowsky to discuss the continued quest for accountability related to the death of her brother Andrew.

Part 3

In this episode we catch up with Nicole Gnazdowsky with a conversation recorded only days before a verdict is rendered in an trial against Nova Scotia Power related to Andrew Gnazdowsky’s death.

the Strange World of INCELs (with Naama Kates)

Incels are the online community, made up predominantly of men, who define their identity in the fact that they are involuntarily celibate. the Incel subculture, as regular listeners of Nighttime know, doesn't just wallow in misogynism, self pity, and entitlement in the internet’s dark corners..

Some self identifying Incels have seen their inability to get laid as justification to commit horrific acts of mass murder...

It's a twisted, dark, and very troubling community, but it's also fascinating and I think it's worth exploring.

To help guide us along the way, I invited a colleague from the world of podcasting to join me.

In this episode we are going to explore the strange and dark world of the self described INCELS (involuntary celibate). Our guest is journalist/podcast creator Naama Kates (host of the Incel Project).

In this episode we are going to catch up with the internet's favorite cult leader UNICOLE and hear about the quest for a suitable UNIACRES (a property to use as a commune for UNICULT) and a perfect UNIMATE (UNICOLE is requesting applications from those willing and qualified to donate sperm for UNICOLE’s reproductive needs).

'Tell Me Your Story' - Live at 'On Paper Books' in Cape Breton for the 2021 Lumiere Art Festival

This episode was recorded at a Cape Breton, Nova Scotia based Art Festival called Lumiere.

I was one of the featured performers at the Lumiere Festival and in this episode I'll take you along with me.

My exhibit was me sitting across the table from an empty chair and a microphone and a sign inviting passersby to sit down and tell me their story... and boy they did.

A Walk Amongst the Dead in Halifax - 2 - the Old Halifax Burying Ground

In a prior episode we joined Craig Ferguson (Dead in Halifax) for a walk amongst the dead who lay in Halifax's Camp Hill Cemetary.

In this episode, we are gonna go back a bit further in time, as Craig offered to introduce us to some of those buried at the site that serviced Halifax's dead in the years before Camp Hill.

the Old Halifax Burying Ground has sat solemnly in the heart of downtown Halifax since 1749.

Through the surprising stories of the dead lying in the old burying ground, the city of Halifax has been connected to major historical world events.

Tonight, in this episode of Nighttime, Craig Ferguson (Dead in Halifax) will give us a guided tour and introduce us to some of those who found a permeant home in the old Halifax Burying ground!
